Hemalatha, also known as Hema among her professional peers, has over 8 years of experience in the field of intellectual property, with a strong focus on patent drafting, analysis, and IPR strategy.
Her professional experience spans across leading organizations and consulting roles, where she has worked extensively on patent drafting and analysis in domains, such as computer science, electronics, artificial intelligence, and telecommunications. Her expertise includes handling patent applications across multiple jurisdictions including Malaysia, India, China, Europe and the United States.
Hema’s patent practice primarily focuses on inventions that relate to software technologies, data processing, cloud computing, electronics systems, communication technologies, and emerging AI-based innovations. She has been involved in numerous patentability assessments, prior art searches, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analysis, and office action responses.
Her key skills include advising clients on patentability, conducting comprehensive prior art and landscape searches, drafting high-quality patent specifications, and responding to examination reports. She also has experience in evidence of use (EoU) analysis and standard essential patent (SEP) studies, supporting both strategic and litigation-related IP work.
In addition, Hemalatha has experience in managing IPR projects, mentoring teams, and delivering training sessions on patent searching and drafting, particularly in software and electronics domains.
