Edna Aloysius
Managing Director
Edna co-founded IP SENSE in 2016, bringing over two decades of legal expertise to her role as Director. While overseeing the firm’s strategic growth, she also leads the Trademarks and Industrial Design Department, where she transforms complex intellectual property challenges into streamlined business assets.
With a career spanning more than 20 years, Edna has become a trusted steward for the IP portfolios of global giants and local enterprises alike. She is particularly regarded for her hands-on approach to enforcement and conflict resolution, having successfully navigated high-stakes trademark disputes, domain name unauthorized use, and complex oppositions.
Edna’s core expertise includes:
- IP portfolio management and strategy
- Consultancy in contentious, conflict and opposition related matters
- Litigation review and strategy support (coordination of court related actions)
- Franchising and licensing
- Mediation and negotiations for dispute resolution
- Drafting of IP related agreements
- Enforcement raids, strategy, and support
- Development of IP policies and procedures for various local education institutions and corporate bodies in Malaysia.
Edna remains at the forefront of the global IP landscape through her active involvement with the International Trademark Association (INTA), Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA), ASEAN Intellectual Property Association (ASEAN IPA) and International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
Edna believes in the restorative power of a life well-lived. An avid traveller and a frequent guest at musical theatre productions, she also finds great joy in the storytelling of period and historical dramas. Whether she is exploring the outdoors or enjoying quiet moments at home with her beloved cats, Edna’s deep-seated compassion is most evident in her dedication to animal rescue and rehoming.
